Fry directs Malala Fund’s programme of research and policy analysis, underpinning the Fund's advocacy and thought leadership in girls' education. She joined Malala Fund from ActionAid where, as Head of Policy, she led policy and research work on women’s and girls’ rights including working on violence against women and girls (VAWG) and women’s economic justice issues. Before joining ActionAid, Lucia worked at the Global Campaign for Education (GCE) where she led campaigns and policy work for a global coalition of over 100 organisations. Lucia started her career in development as a volunteer teacher in rural Northern Namibia, where she taught 200 Grade 11 and 12 students. One of her proudest achievements is that her learners scored significantly above the regional average in their school-leaving exams. She has also held education policy positions at Plan and Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) and served on the Board of the Bretton Woods Project, the European Network on Debt and Development and the Right to Education Initiative.
