Jabhera Matogoro

Jabhera Matogoro holds an MSc and BSc in Computer Science from the University of Dodoma and University of Dar es Salaam, respectively. Mr Matogoro is working as the Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of the College of Informatics and Virtual Education. He is currently finalising his PhD in Telecommunications Engineering at the University of Dodoma where he works to connect the unconnected population using Television White Space Technology to deliver affordable broadband Internet in rural Tanzania. Jabhera Matogoro is the Founder and Chairperson of Tanzania Community Networks Alliance (click here), an umbrella organisation for community networks in Tanzania. Mr Matogoro is an Open Internet Engineering Mozilla Fellow for the year 2019 – 2020. The Internet Society is hosting him for his fellowship.
Jabhera Matogoro is working to scale-up community-owned cooperative societies in Tanzania, aimed at making cooperative attractive for youth and young girls in Tanzania, while at the same time addressing challenges associated with broadband Internet access. Matogoro is an active member of many forums in Africa and beyond. He represented African Internet End-Users through At-Large Advisory Committee (ALAC) to the Second Security, Stability and Resiliency Review Team (ICANN SSR2 RT).
